Diaper Care
Instructions

All fabrics are pre-shrunk and washed until no bleeding occurs. Hand dyed items are treated to set the dye and washed until no bleeding occurs. Your items should never bleed in the wash, however, I suggest washing with like colors the first few times to be certain.

There are many different routines that people use to wash diapers. My personal preference is to wash daily so that the urine does not start breaking down the fabrics. I prefer to use a diaper sprayer to rinse all solids off before putting the diaper in the pail. I then do a hot wash with my preferred detergent, and follow with a hot rinse after the cycle has completed, but this is not always necessary. I do not recommend using any bleach, oxy-bleach, or fabric softener on your diapers. I also do not recommend boiling diapers, or putting them in the dishwasher, as this will break down the snaps and elastic. To preserve the elastic and knits, I wash on gentle cycle and dry on medium.  I recommend that you use at least half of the amount of detergent called for on the detergent label in order to get your diapers clean.  I also recommend that you do not allow diapers to sit with urine on them for more than 24 hours.  This will keep your diapers from getting "stink".

Please wash all diapering items before use. I use washable markers to mark the fabric, and you may see the marker bleed off (it washes right out). The reason many wahms use washable markers to mark fabric instead of fabric markers is that washable markers are much safer for our children.

If you have ordered an All In One diaper, your diaper has been treated with permanent water guard. If it starts to wick after several uses, you may need to re-treat it with this product. It is made by Atsco, and I purchase it from www.angelwraps.com.

All diapers that are bound in foldover elastic will pill if they come in contact with the rough parts of Velcro/aplix, etc. Please make sure that any Velcro, etc will not rub against your foldover elastic in the wash.

Finally, please check all snaps before putting on your baby to make sure they are not loose or falling off. Babies put everything in their mouths, and snaps are not a safe snack for your infant or toddler.
